From your acceptance to Cal Poly to the end of Spring Quarter of your first year, our goal is to provide you with a solid foundation in understanding academic policies and procedures, navigating your degree pathway, meeting your goals, and connecting to on-campus resources.

The academic advisors in the Mustang Success Center are your “go-to” people for your academic questions and concerns during your first year. You have multiple ways to meet with an advisor.

As campus remains virtual our office will not have physical drop-ins. However, we remain open to virtual drop ins for extended hours. We are also available via phone and email.

    First Year Advising Center Mission

    The Mustang Success Center provides an inclusive environment that supports first time freshmen students with their transition and integration into Cal Poly. The center’s staff provides accessible academic advising that guides students to clear pathways of success and timely graduation. 

    Through individual appointments, group advising sessions, and workshops, the advisors help students: 

    • Understand University policies and procedures 
    • Offer a full range of proactive academic services 
    • Refer students to appropriate campus resources 
    • Provide leadership in coordinating College and University programs that support student success.
